Episode aired 12/19/2011
Chef Roble’ had his work cut out as this weeks challenge was a 4-year-olds birthday party. I say challenge, because the mother of the 4-year-old is also a hands on party planner. Roble’ knew that he certainly had to be on his toes. Lyss who was the client and her best friend/business manager Tamara were very meticulous. So it wasn’t easy to sit back and be hostesses and enjoy the party!
The kicker is the 4-year-old did not have the palate of an average child his age. He liked sushi and vegetables! So Roble’ pulled out his bag of creative masterpieces that were kid friendly for a healthy food children’s party.
The theme was Music/Rock Star, the location was at Westbury Beach Club, in Long Island, with a $12k budget and on the menu:
- FOR THE KIDS
- Ginger Soy Marinated Lo Mein (Chicken, Shrimp, Vegetables)
- Assorted Fruit Popsicles (Kiwi Strawberry, Mango-Blood Orange)
- Fortune Cookies
- Fruit Sushi
- Rock Star Birthday Cake
- FOR THE ADULTS
- Squid Ink Encrusted Calamari
- Booth Bay Lobster Rolls
- Little Neck Clams (Spicy Cayenne Gele’e)
- Kumomoto Oysters (Mignonette Gele’e)
Roasted Corn(The Supplier didn’t get the Corn delivered)
- Oven Roasted Zucchini & Squash (Oaxaca Cheese)
This seemed to be a very rushed event, rushed meaning Lyss wanted everything immediately! Roble’ stayed calm and he kept his staff calm. He did get a little upset with the fortune cookie messages that Adam created. One of the messages said “girls don’t have cooties and boys are not icky” and a lot of the cookies didn’t have messages at all. The messages were not appropriate for 4-year-olds, the messages were more appropriate for kids a little older. Other than that the food as always was a success and the event as a whole was a success!
It was also nice to see Roble’ take a little time to be with his beautiful girlfriend, Ayan Elmi. They seem like a high school couple so cute and always happy to be in each others company!
